Pumpkins, Short and Sweet.

Last night The Pilver household embarked on our annual stabbing of the pumpkins ceremony for Halloween.  We found three pumpkins at the local grocery that were too heavy for their scales.  If you don’t posses artistic talent, bigger is better.  Let me show you the orange orbs glow with the assistance of tea lights.

On the left is mine.   Christmas tree pumpkin was my theme.  The Max’s is in the middle, he chose to make a Boo Mario pumpkin.  I don’t know what Boo Mario looks like, so I will assume he looks just like that.  Mr. Pilver’s is on the right.  We have one pumpkin that looks Halloweeny, just one.

Trick-or-Treaters do not travel out to the area we reside.  We have to drive to town for the  holiday this year.  I hope bags of Skittles make it into Max’s pail, those sound really tasty right now.

Thanks Mommy.

Ever since I have been married, The Max has been on his own at night.  I mean, he was almost all of the time anyhow, but now he doesn’t really ask to crawl into bed with me.  I miss it.

Mr. Pilver, had an out of town trip the past couple days, and I promised Max he could spend the night in my bed when he was gone.

The night came when I had half an empty mattress and Max and I both forgot all about it it when that nine year old’s bed time came.  I went to bed an hour or so later, I remembered.  I tip-toed into The Max’s room and lifted my now far too heavy for me to carry son in to my room and onto my bed.  He kicked, talked, and wiggled all night long.  It was mommy bliss.  When he woke up the next morning, he had one arm and two feet on me.  He looked up and say, “Thanks mommy”.  The Max remembered my promise.

He then hopped up and began doing annoying and loud tween activities.  I didn’t mind.  He called me Mommy for the first time in a long time.

Angry Birds Halloween

This post took me five days to finish.  It’s not particularity well written or groundbreaking, it’s just that I spent an absorbent about of time playing the game and have not given any attention to much else in my life.  Angry birds is the epitome of addictive.

Each month, since I have purchased the iPhone app (which is now available on many phones and the iPad) I make sure I defeat each level within a day.  I’ll take the next week to achieve the covetet three start point requirements.  After all this mind numbing fun I wait, with baited breath for the next month’s update.

October’s update was not an update at all, but a whole new app to buy and game to play.  The premise was exactly the same.  Instead of one theme with fifteen levels you got three.  In my mind, it was well worth the ninty-nine cent price tag.  All updates to the original game have been free, and I understand the developer’s greed in wanting to sell a new item, you don’t make money buy giving things away.

Take a look at the trailer for the Halloween edition of Angry Birds:

I would have bought the pig smashing fun if it had no holiday tie-ins, but the fact that it is aiming to be a pumpkin smashing and spooky homage to October’s greatest day, brought me back into the ‘ween spirit.

If you are like me, and watch youtube walk through videos to see how others have completed the levels, check out this user.

I am also dreaming about a possible Christmas version.  That would be fantastic.

I don’t push much, but for heaven’s sake, buy this game!

The Girl Who Drives Me Crazy

Spending an abundance of time with one person will often create an annoyance cause by said person, whether or not they are truly and obnoxious being.  People need to take breaks from one another, I believe, in order to keep a relationship fresh.

So, if I have to spend one more day with myself, I might strangle…myself.

I’ve started trying to talk to the dogs, but they don’t talk back.  I visit the chickens and turkeys but they just pecked me as I feed them.  Max is always a good distraction, but I need to get out.

I have days off during the week now.  I am at home, solo, fending for myself.  It’s a good time, for about an hour.  And as soon as the house is neat and in order, as soon as I have baked as much as I can eat, I get bored.

I think I need a second job, just as an excuse to leave the house.

Fall Findings Vlog

I’m feeling very much like updating all the time.  Here’s the second video I made today after taking a trip into town and purchasing fall related goods.

Spice Man

I’m trying to do a million things right now so I am not going to take time to set this video up with fancy words.  Enjoy!

PUMPKINS!

Annually I carve a pumpkin or two and place on the front step.  It’s a great part of the Halloween season.  The seeds are yummy, the guts have a peculiar smell that bothers some, but not me.  It reminds me of all things fall.

My carving abilities are minimal.  I can hack out triangle eyes and a crooked smile.  Never have I attempted much more.

Others in this world take it far more seriously:

Bully Pumpkin

Pumpkin Burger

Matt C.’s house.  OK, maybe not, I just imagine it that way.

Cartoon House Pumpkin

(By far, my favorite of the bunch)

Here’s Johnny! Pumpkin

Obviously traced, but impressive.

R2D2 Pumpkin.

And, that’s it!  We’re going to do our carving this weekend.  Looking forward to it!

The Twenty-Five Days of Thanksgiving.

Over the weekend, I was alone.  The empty house refreshed me with silence, for a few hours.  I grew bored.

Only sixty-eight days remain until Christmas.   Annually I go through a resistance which breaks around the first week of November.  I need holiday carols., and I caved early this year.  The weather was crispy, freezing temperatures occurred each night and my tomato plants perished.  Many hours this weekend were spent crocheting, baking, and shouting along with X-entertainment’s Christmas Jukebox.

No shame or guilt was felt in my premature celebrations.  However, as I am now hosting my first ever Thanksgiving dinner, I believe I’m going to give great efforts to subdue any further Christmas celebrations until Thanksgiving.  I mean that.

Thanksgiving in the past proved to be a day long celebration.  The decor, food and festivities are difficult to drag much further than the leftovers last in the fridge.

For the next fourteen days, let’s think about Halloween.  And, for the full twenty-five days after All Hallows Eve, we’re going to give mad props to the Turkey.

This year, my Christmas decor and magical tree will not appear in the second week of November.  And unless it is forced upon me without choice, I will refrain from Christmas music until Jolly ol’ St. Nick takes his turn in the Macy*s Parade.

This is one of the three birds we have to choose from for dinner.

I’m hosting Thanksgiving.  This is huge.  I mustn’t screw it up.

Screw it, I’m Running.

I used to be a runner.   This sounds hilarious said out loud, coming from me.   I have not run in about three years, at all.  When I stopped running, it was because I was in school full time, working full time, was the single parent of a Kindergartner and no longer had time for a half hour leisurely jog.

A year and a half later, I had lost fifteen pounds and my doc said “Don’t run again until you’ve gained at least ten pounds”  I’d been absent from the sport for so long, obeying was easy.  As my free time has opened and my weight has increased, I still haven’t made the move towards running.  I’m three pounds shy of my prescribed weight goal.

I cannot wait any longer.  I’m running.

I promise to eat sticks of butter and eat 10,000 almonds.

I don’t know why this hit me right now, but it did.  I used to run 20-30 miles a week and my health was great and I wore pants a size larger than I do now. Also, I miss running.  I’m ready to restart our relationship.  If he’ll take me.

New Writing Adventure!

Once in awhile I pull up the local newspapers website and see what’s going on here in the sticks.   The other day I found a link for the blogs hosted on the site, and turns out anyone can write one.   I cannot be certain, but I assume this is a small town thing.  So, I wrote one.  I got some comments pretty much right away.

So, HERE’S THE LINK.  Being as I am relatively new here, I made up my mind to host a blog in regards to discovering restaurants, music, outdoor activities, festivals etc. in this new town.

I think I will like it.  It may not be a paid gig, but it’s being viewed by a lot of people.  I can dig that.   It is very anonymous, so if you decide to comment, please don’t call me Kristiane or kbell, or kb 🙂   Thanks!
