Republican National Convention…on My Shoulder…Makes me Happy.

Ever since our nation has decided the two men that will talk smack about each other during the entirety of the next few months while I am trying to watch television, I have had friends and family on either side of the political sports arena tell me that if their star player does not win, “Things will get SCARY!”

So, basically, we are screwed. However, being that the Republican National Convention will take place where I live, I am actually getting kinda excited. I don’t consider myself a part of one side or the other, I just cannot handle commitments of any kind. I believe, though, that the amount of protesters and media members who will be in town along with the GOP-ers themselves will create for a lively time that I am looking forward to the same way I look forward to elementary school spring break. Not quite so fun as Christmas break, but still you know that great things will happen.

I live on a pretty major street in my city, and I am thinking of fashioning a banner to hang out my window. Here is what I have so far:

No I am serious, wanna?

PS, if you want to discuss your political opinions in the thread, I will short sheet your bed.

You might find that being involved in the political process can be invigorating and stimulating. Undoubtedy, you would find a ready supply of material for your blog.

It doesn’t require a commitment to a particular candidate but if you’re waiting for just the perfect one to support, chance are you’ll never be involved.

KB I know exactly what you mean! I’m in Denver so I have the other team in my town and the build up is insane! If I was on a busier street I’d do the sign thing too but I don’t see many celebrities or protesters heading over to my apartment for a brewsky.

  3. kristiane says:

Dylan- Oh, I am involved, I vote and stuff. I just don’t like the yelling, it reminds me of my old drunk neighbors.

I love the poster and may have to steal it for my blog–I’ll of course give you full credit and 100% of all royalties collected.

I am envious–wish I could come to MN to see all the fun. But as it is, I have to save my money in case the other guy wins and decides to tax me out of existence. Sorry–I couldn’t help myself–I’ll go short sheet my own bed so you don’t have to travel all the way to Texas. 😉

I am not a Republican or a protester, but I would like a beer. Can I have a beer?

  6. Christian says:

I’ve recently been told that I’m going to be part of the protest. While I’m not pleased about the GOP convention, I’d rather leave them to it. Freedom of choice and all that. However, apparently I’m going to be more involved than I’d anticipated. Oh well, it’ll be a learning experience.

You should draw American flags more often, they make me feel patriotic.

  8. Amy says:

thanks for the p.s., i was all like, “oh no, here we go.” you’re a smart cookie.

and beer for me too, please. tg, i’m sure we could find something to protest if we absolutely must.

  9. JoshC says:

    You know whats funny??
Protesters who don’t really know what they’re protesting for.
Ahh to be young and a punk kid(again).

  10. Amy says:

    maybe they’re protesting for beer.

  11. kristiane says:

    Murph- good boy

    tg- you get rum

    doho-me too

Amy- i am going to Wisc. soon, we will have beer for sure

Josh- yes, that is true lots of the time, but it ruins it for those who really care, IMO
