Sleep, Wall-E, and Batman

Vacation was great. Blah blah blah. The only thing I really took with me was that I am becoming disturbingly jealous of those who do not work. Not for the work thing, but for the sleep. I slept nine plus hours almost every day for close to three weeks. I don’t even need the lack of a job thing, I just want that sweet precious sleep back. Also, I really have nothing to write, so I will review the movies that I have seen in the past month poorly and incompletely.

Wall-E.
I had been looking forward to this and when tg called up and asked if The Max and I wanted to go on opening night, I was all over that. It was good. I have a hard time judging ‘kids’ movies. My difficulty comes from the fact that 95% of kids movies are bad. I am not referring to 95% of the ones that go to the theater, but instead the ones that go straight to DVD, ones only shown on TV as well as theater releases. But this was in that top 5%. The only problem I had was the humans. They were so dang cartoony. Someone had said that all Pixar movies do that and I guess I never thought about it before, but it is true. Humans in Pixar movies are cartoony. However, in Wall-E there were actual humans along with the silly putty versions of humans. It seemed wrong.

Batman Begins

I watched this last night. I watched the first half hour and it was quite good. I need to see it before I am allowed to join some friends who are more hard core Batman fans when Dark Knight comes out. But then, after that first entertaining half hour I fell sound asleep. Whoops.

Return of Optimus Prime

This is not a movie, really. And I am not going to review it. It’s just funny so press the sideways triangle already.

Oh my. Are you allowed to have something with swear words on your blog, K-Bell? πŸ˜‰

And I am assuming the group of friends you are referring to about seeing “The Dark Knight” with is me…in which case you are more than allowed to see it without seeing “Begins”…I just thought you should see the first one to see if you like it. Being as that you haven’t made it through the movie yet in two attempts, I’d say it looks like you don’t. πŸ˜‰

From now on, I’m only watching movie with you while sitting in an upright, ridged, face forward position. Your too prone to sleep, otherwise.

Oh and that reminds me…yes, sleep is awesome, and the worst part about having a job is not getting enough of it.

The humans in ALL 3-D cartoons have always been poorly designed. It’s not just Pixar, although they do it the best. They were designed that way in Wall-E that 700 years in space made them lose bone density, and the lifestyle of a life-long cruise made them evolve in a way to become fat little larvae.

And The Rude Awakening of Optimus Prime, Pilver? An internet classic that always cracks me up.

“And that’s who you’ll be from now on: Shitpiece!”

  3. Galileo says:

Oh, I forgot to mention that Wall-E was a cartoon, despite how eerily realistic everything else looked. πŸ™‚

You haven’t seen Batman Begins in full yet? Oh man. It’s not just a great Batman movie, it’s a great movie period. I don’t think you’ve hit a certain scene yet but it always sends shivers down my spine and makes me wish I didn’t abandon my child hood dreams.

Well, it looks like the vacation went well. I’m glad you guys made it back safely.
I am a big fan of the new Batman series. Christian Bale really nails the part and it’s nice to see him in the second one. It’s not like the Michael Keeton to Clooney jump.
I love the first “F bomb” Optimus Prime dropped. Still makes me laugh. Have you seen the GI Joe parodies yet? Equally funny.

Glad to hear you had an overall enjoyable vacation, I just found out I have two weeks off in August, sleep, here I come.

My speakers died a while back and I haven’t picked up new ones yet, I want to hear optimus swear dammit.

  7. kittymao says:

    me too Josh.
I don’t HAVE speakers here, so I have to wait until I get home and have a uiet moment to steal away from the Horde that now resides at my place just to hear Optie swear.

    not fuckin’ fair.

How can you not have seen all of Batman Begins yet? It’s great! I’m looking forward to Wall-E. I’m just in it for the robots so the humans can take a leap, cartonny or not.

    God I LOVE Transformers!

Batman is my favorite superhero, too, so I remind my husband often how many days are left until Dark Knight opens πŸ˜€

Wall-E is on my list to see, too, so I am glad to know it will be worth it!!
